Is God the CEO of Your Business?

by DrLeAnne Deardeuff on January 22, 2015

As a working mother, I wear many hats. Of course we all know the motherhood hats, cook, nurse, maid, dishwasher, bed maker, laundress, gardener etc. (Fortunately as the mother of 12 children I quickly learned to delegate.) I have been a chiropractor for many years, I was a nutritional and health consultant and now I am almost a Gold Star with  Young Living. I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And what that means is that I teach a class in Sunday School on Sundays as well once a month in our Women’s meeting.

At church we are taught to serve others. But more importantly, we are taught to find out and then do the Will of the Father. And what that means is we ask Him if our decisions are right. Are they what He wants us to be doing with our time and talent to serve Him and others?

Oh there are so many things I want to do. But sometimes, the answer is “No”.  For example, I knew that God wanted me to write a book. “Inner Transformations Using Essential Oils” So, I did with lots of help from my husband. When this book first came out about 8 years ago, people wanted me to go all over the United States speaking to their groups or at this place or that place. But 8 years ago, I was a mother of 12 children. Most of them were in the home at the time. I am a mother first. I wouldn’t go speak as it took me out of the home. I felt that God has given me these children to take care.

God became my CEO. I really needed someone to steer me in the right direction for my business and my family. My husband and I  talked about it and decided that speaking engagements were not the thing God wanted me to do. I really didn’t want to become famous though it seems I did anyway. Now, I have one child at home. It seems my time is freer. And people continue to ask me if I  would come speak to their groups. I choose to do it over the phone instead of traveling all over the country. I really wondered if this is something that would benefit me, my family and my business. Woman Praying So I put it to  prayer again. Hard prayer. I prayed for months. But, the answer is still “No”. I don’t know why that is. But I have learned that when God speaks, I will listen and obey. I know that if I don’t, then something happens that makes me realize why I shouldn’t have done it. I would rather just not do it then find out the consequence.

So if you wonder, why I don’t go speak places it is as easy as that. God said “No”.

I teach my team to ask God every morning to guide them that day in their businesses. What is it that will help it to grow or where they and their business might serve someone. It is wonderful to listen to the things that they have felt impressed to do that day. Many times they are led to someone who really need the benefits of essential oils. I  highly recommend asking God to be your boss.
