Woman With Insomnia This could be me! Insomniac.

I like to sleep. I like to think about sleep. Nobody had better wake me up when I am asleep or I am a tremendous growling bear. How about you? I have had sleep disorders all my life so I think about how to sleep better. I analyze what made me sleep well or not sleep well that night. Do you know your sleep habits?

Here is a great article about sleep secrets learned from babies that I found on Yahoo.  https://www.yahoo.com/health/5-sleep-secrets-you-should-steal-from-babies-110560283677.html.

As I read through the article, I realized that I had already learned some of these secrets to good sleep habits.  One is to make sure that I have a good routine that I do before bed every night. I also know how long it takes. So if I want to be in bed by 10:00 pm, I need to start at 9:15 pm. Change my clothes, brush my teeth, use the Loo, and then read a good novel for about 30 minutes, I will begin to fall asleep. My reading material can’t be stressful, it has to be almost day dreamy so that the alpha waves start. I want the brains beta waves to settle down. I might also use oils like Lavender, or Tranquil that support the body in calming down. I also know that my bedroom has to be dark. Light make me stare at it! My husband understands my sleep also. He makes sure when he comes to bed later that all streams of light are covered up. Cracks under the doors, clock lights etc. He also gets I need a constant stream of water going off to assist my breathing. So he fills a humidifier every night for me. That is true love.

Because I have had breathing and sinus issues during these last few house heater driven months, I also make sure I have some type of eucalyptus oil in a diffuser. Between it and the humidifier, my nose stays moist and I can breathe.

What do you need to do to sleep better? One of my sons asked me how he could help his two year old son sleep better. I suggested a warm bath with some lavender in it followed by lavender oil on his feet and back after ward. It worked. Lavender is perfect to assist the nervous system in relaxing.
